Hope

Gloomy clouds shroud streets
Of an ancient frailing  town
***
Dampening resolve of dwelling hope
Thrashing to stay afloat
***
The rain pour cleanses the spirit
Flooding fear and drowning tears
***
For at despair route finish line
A kaleidoscope of color arise
***
And when a story dwells to an end
A sequel soon inthrall

ENOUGH!

I admit I’m not a revolutionary,
They say I’m against the cause,
I believe in building a fortress,
Not stoning fragile doors!
 ***
They say I’m not allowed to speak
Nor allowed to raise my voice
My speech is not to their liking
So simply shouldn’t be heard!
 ***
I see so many angry views
Some noble, some disturbing
I see rebels without a cause
Others advocates of liberty
 ***
Now tell me oh great worrier
Oh guardian of autonomy
In all the month that passed
Do you know what you’re fighting for?
 ***
Are you fighting for a country?
Are you fighting for the poor?
Are you fighting for the ones who died?
Or the ones who were reborn?
 ***
For those fighting to snatch a piece
To crown themselves monarchs
My country is not a corps
Its roots are set since eternity
 ***
It survived invaders, traitors and wars
Greedy insignificant trivial minds
Will soon be forgotten,
A blimp in history to inconsequential to be mentioned

Remember When

Remember when …

Phones had cords and could be used for hours at a time

Remember when …

CDs were a novelty that would never pick up

Remember when …

Friendships were written in stone and last a lifetime

Remember when …

All there was to worried about were end of year exams

Remember when …

Jewels were made of neon, leather and plastic

Remember when …

Chips and soda constituted a balanced diet

Remember when …

Sports were hobbies not obligations

Remember when …

Santa clause was real and the tooth fairy was giving

Remember when …

Life was an adventure waiting to commence

Remember when …

TVs were connected to antennas not satellites

Remember when …

Sport clubs were the place to be on a Thursday night

Remember when …

Destinies was written among the night stars

Remember when …

Cartoons were two dimensional and didn’t need words

Remember when …

Board games were the best group pastime activity

Remember when …

Summer vacations were three month and ended too soon

Remember when …

You couldn’t wait until you were all grown up

Remember when …

Cairo Cyclers

We go in circles around the town,
At the crack of dawn, when the world is calm,
***
Riding on bikes some new, others borrowed,
We’re cycling our way to a better tomorrow,
***
Some ride for fun, others for exercise,
Some ride all day, others ride through the night,
***
We gimps our city in a different point in time
For the view is very different atop a rolling bike
***
So if you see us on the street, as you happen to pass on by
We’d really appreciate it, if you stop ... wave ... and smile :)
